While we love and encourage and are very grateful for monetary contributions, there are some other ways that you can help us in our work to connect more people to nature. Here is our current Wish List:
Office Space
Ideally located in SLO. Enough space for one person on a regular basis (desk, phone, computer, etc.) and a second workspace occasionally. Access to meeting room would be a bonus. Internet connection necessary.
Land Access
Our programs are constantly seeking out new space to discover. Do you own property that has a field, a grove, a forest, a hill, a garden, a river, a ____ ? Would you be willing to let us love that earth and learn from it? We need new places to discover for one-time camps or weekend programs, as well as regular use for ongoing programs. We are very good stewards of the land, and would be happy to trade land stewardship for access.
Locations for Programs
In addition to access to land, we are in need of a Program Home Base in SLO. Ideally, this includes some sort of structure (barn? workshop? teepee? yurt? large treehouse? old rental home?), surrounded by open space. If you have the space but no structure, with your permission we might build something like we did in Los Osos. Coyote Pups (preschool program) would be there Mondays – Fridays. Nature Academy (middle to high school program) might be there once or twice a week. Anything more than that would be up to you. As always, we would love your land and care for it with all our love and might.
Storage Space
Outside Now doesn’t own too much…mainly because we have no where to store it! We would love to start collecting supplies like camping gear, art supplies, building materials, etc., but we need a place to keep it all first.
Volunteer Instructors
Do you have some information or particular skill that you would like to share with our students? We would love to tap into more of the collective wisdom in our community, so if you have something you’d like to share, we’d love to hear about it! Maybe it’s something that you could show our Nature Academy kids on a single afternoon, maybe it’s regular time spent with our Coyote Pups, maybe it’s something for us to build a class series around for retired folks. Our simple purpose is to provide people with experiences in nature – if you’ve got a passion that fits that description, please share!
Van
We need a van or mini-van that is safe and reliable for our Coyote Pups! Specifics: Fits 6 backseat passengers, all passenger seats can accommodate car seats/booster seats. Safety ratings HIGH.
Other Ideas?
Maybe you know us and you see a need that could be filled that we don’t even know about! We welcome ideas on how we can best serve our community, participants, selves and earth in deepening nature connections.
